PVC ball valves
Select and buy a manual 2-way PVC ball valve online for your application. A 2-way PVC ball valve is cost effective and resistant to a wide range of media, making it very popular. It has a PVC housing and 2 ports, an inlet and an outlet, and a ball with a bore in it. They are operated by a manual hand lever to turn the ball 90 degrees, which is why they are often called quarter turn ball valves or shut off valves. Simply turn the handle perpendicular to the pipe to close it and parallel to open it. Some valves don't have a handle, but an ISO-top making them suitable for an electric or pneumatic actuator. PVC is suitable for corrosive media (sea water), most acids and bases, salt solutions, and organic solvents.
Other main selection criteria for manual 2-way PVC ball valves include: connection size, seal material, pressure rating, and temperature rating.
- ISO-top PVC ball valves (solvent sockets) have socket ends with an ISO-top ready for an electric or pneumatic actuator.
- ISO-top PVC ball valves (threads) have theaded ends with an ISO-top ready for an electric or pneumatic actuator.
- True union PVC ball valves (solvent sockets) have socket ends and a manual lever to turn the valve open or closed.
- True union PVC ball valves (threads) have threaded ends and a manual lever to turn the valve open or closed.
PVC housing
PVC stands for PolyVinyl Chloride and it is considered a plastic. PVC is lightweight, strong, and durable giving it a long service life. A plastic ball valve is often a cost-effective alternative to a metal housing (brass or stainless steel) as long as it is resistant to the media and the pressure/temperature range is suitable for PVC. A PVC shut off valve can be commonly seen in water management and irrigation applications. It is suitable for corrosive media like seawater, most acids and bases, salt solutions, and organic solvents. However, it should not be used for aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbon media applications. Temperature range is from -15 to 60°C (5 to 140°F) and it has a lower pressure rating when compared to a brass or stainless steel housing.
